How do I switch my plan?

If you’ve chosen a healthcare plan, it usually remains unchanged. However, there are two exceptions where you can switch your plan:

1. Switching to a lower plan tier (downgrade):

Switching to a cheaper healthcare plan is possible but needs to be approved by Allianz first. Here’s how you proceed:

  • Submit an application for the desired lower plan on our website.

-> For example: You already have the Expatcare Premium plan (highest tier) and want to switch to Expatcare Comfort (lower tier). Simply take out a new contract with Expatcare Comfort and we will process the plan change for you.

2. Switching to a higher plan tier (upgrade):

Upgrading to a higher healthcare plan is only possible in the following cases:

  • Within the first four weeks after the start of your initial MAWISTA insurance or
  • Within the two-week cancellation period after submitting your insurance application.

-> Submit an application for the desired higher plan on our website. We’ll review your request and get back to you.
